1. Advanced Techniques for Neck & Upper Back

Neck pain is one of the most common problems driving clients into your practice. The neck is often referred to as the “Master Volume Switch” that can affect pain patterns everywhere else in the body. If you deactivate problems in the cervical region, everything else often responds positively.

This 2-day hands-on workshop, will guide you through a series of therapeutic techniques that can be immediately incorporated into your existing treatment protocol. Discover how side lying techniques can open-up the entire angle of the neck and give you complete access to the cervical musculature, as well as the upper back and chest regions. This treatment positioning is great for clients who find it hard to relax, and it also puts less strain on your body.

In this hands-on workshop you will learn:

How to enhance your ability to treat cervical dysfunctions like neck ROM restrictions, cold whiplash, headaches, torticollis, thoracic outlet syndrome and much more…

  • Movement analysis of the cervical spine
  • Common pathologies involved in neck pain
  • Fascial release techniques
  • Trapezius, levator scapulae, and rhomboids
  • Scalenes, SCM, and longus colli
  • Deep Posterior cervicals & suboccipitals
  • Deep cervical rotators
  • Atlanto-occipital release
  • Pectoralis minor
  • First rib release
  • Rehabilitative stretching & strengthening

What students are saying:

“Using the side-lying position has helped my patient tremendously. She was able to rest comfortably on her side and is not contracting her cervical spine. Also, the focused techniques in side-lying are gentle enough yet super focused and effective. In one session this patient has made huge progress using the Cheryl Technique. She can’t stop raving about it. I have had several referrals from her alone. Her cervical spine has relaxed, and remained pain free, for two weeks now!” Robin Horemans (Calgary)

2. Advanced Techniques Shoulder Complex

The shoulder can be a very challenging joint to treat because it is designed to have maximum movement potential, and relatively little stability. Functional movement of the shoulder requires balance between movement of the scapula and the glenohumeral joint. Particular attention will be given to a movement analysis that determines the areas of primary restriction, and the appropriate techniques required to effectively release them.

In this 2-day hands-on workshop you will learn:

How to enhance your ability to treat shoulder complex dysfunctions like scapulo-humeral imbalance, rotator cuff trigger points, tendonitis, impingement syndrome and frozen shoulder.

  • Common pathologies associated with shoulder pain patterns.
  • Contraindications to treatment of the shoulder complex.
  • Scapular imbalances.
  • Passive and active range of motion assessment.
  • Treatment of the rotator cuff complex.
  • Pectoralis major and minor,
  • Biceps & supraspinatus tendon,
  • Latissimus dorsi, and teres major.
  • PNF and active stretching techniques.
  • Rehabilitative stretching and strengthening.

3. Advanced Techniques for Lower Back & Hips

Lower back and hip pain is one of the most common complaints that you will be presented with in your practice. Lengthening the hip flexors, and correcting pelvic imbalances, is vital to the successful treatment of many chronic lower back pain patterns and dysfunctions. Particular attention will be given to the treatment of the iliopsoas complex, and the QL’s.

In this 2-day hands-on workshop you will learn:

How to enhance your ability to treat lower back and hip dysfunctions like decreased lumbar spine movement, fascial restrictions, sacro-iIiac joint fixation, tight hip flexors and piriformis syndrome.

What Others are saying:

Theressa McKay (Lacombe)
All RMTs who understand the value of what you’re offering will be benefit greatly! I have used the techniques that you teach, and they work wonders! If I were to hire any other RMT’s at the clinic, I would insist that they have certificates from your courses. That would ensure me that they are serious about their work and that they have been taught valuable massage techniques.
Mandie McLeary (Cochrane)
